How do Travel Advisors make money?

When a client books through a travel agency, the agent is paid a commission based upon a percentage of the total cost of the products and services the client has booked.

As one of our Independent Travel Agents, you listen to your clients' desires and help find them the best deals so they can make their vacation dreams a reality. You'll also get exclusive deals and discounts on your own travel so you'll have the best first-hand experience in the industry, all to better serve your clients.

How Much Time Do I Need?

One of the most appealing aspects of being an independent travel advisor is the flexibility. You are your own boss. Set your own hours. Work from anywhere in the world. Imagine working from a beach in Bali. Or a café in Paris. As an independent travel advisor, you have the freedom to design your ideal lifestyle.

How / When is Training Done?

Our training program is designed to be flexible, allowing you to progress through materials at your own pace with supplier provided self-study resources. To enhance your learning, the program also incorporates online live mentoring calls, providing direct interaction and guidance from your mentor agent. This blend of independent learning and live support caters to diverse learning preferences and schedules of all types.

Do I Have to Do My Own Marketing?

Not if you don't want to!  With Unlimited Journeys Travel as your host agency, we're invested in your success.  Our host agency program provides paid advertising free of charge to our independent agents in leading print publications as well as online, social media channels and more!  Many of our agents start small with friends and family and start building their client base through personal referrals. We also offer free marketing training to help get you new client leads quickly.

How Much Experience Do I Need?

If you have a passion for travel, that's all you'll need to get started! Unlimited Journeys Travel provides all of the initial as well as ongoing training and professional mentorship you will need to get your travel career started. 

What Type of Equipment Is Required?

Most of our travel advisors find that a basic laptop, computer headset or cell phone to make and receive calls, and a solid WiFi connection is really all they need to be able to work anywhere in the world.  

How Much Does It Cost to Become A Travel Advisor?

With Unlimited Journeys Travel, our host agency fixed costs are just $1 per day, capped at $30 per month.  This monthly technology fee covers your CRM license, a hosted Microsoft Exchange email box, and unlimited cloud email archiving & mailbox backup services. 

As as independent travel advisor, just like with any business you would own, you are required to carry Errors & Omissions insurance.  E&O insurance, also known as professional liability insurance, protects you from claims alleging negligence or inadequate work. It helps cover legal costs and settlements arising from errors or omissions in the services that you provide. Essentially, it safeguards against financial losses due to professional mistakes.  Unlimited Journeys Travel has partnered with Berkshire Hathaway Insurance that can provide you with E&O insurance at incredibly affordable rates.  You are also free to use any other insurance company of your choosing. 

When Do I Get Paid?

Your commission payments will be automatically direct deposited into your bank account on or around the 15th of the month following the completion of your clients travel. Some of our suppliers offer advance commission payments, allowing you to get paid even before your client departs!  IRS 1099 forms will be sent on or around January 31st each year.
